🧠 Comparison of Left and Right Brain
Function | Left Brain | Right Brain |
---|---|---|
Processing Style | Logical, Linear, Structured | Intuitive, Holistic, Experiential |
Strengths | Language, Mathematics, Analysis | Art, Emotion, Imagination |
Thinking Style | Reasoning, Analytical, Rational | Associative, Perceptive, Creative |
As shown above, the way the two hemispheres work is like two sides of the same coin—distinct in function yet cooperative in nature. The reason we highlight their differences is that the brain operates somewhat differently during hypnosis compared to regular daily life. Without understanding this, entering hypnosis may not only fail to bring the desired answers, but may also lead to self-judgment, denial, or even no effect at all.
From personal experience, today’s society tends to favor so-called rational thinking, where many things are confined by rules and frameworks. While this appears organized, it also brings many limitations. In other words, imagination is often lacking. In daily life, we frequently hear criticisms—this is wrong, that doesn’t work—some based on logic, others just stemming from personal feelings. According to the chart above, this aligns quite well with the left-brain style: analysis + judgment = conclusion. But under such a mindset, hypnosis becomes very difficult. At every step, the conscious mind is interrupted by the left brain’s urge to judge and control, making the process feel both unmanageable and unproductive. 😂
The way the right brain works is emotional, imaginative, free-flowing, and even wildly creative. When the right brain starts operating, if the left brain is watching and still able to speak, it would probably say, “This is crazy—absolutely insane!” 😂😂
This kind of scenario reminds me of how many men and women might behave when working together. Generally speaking, men tend to be more rational, while women are more intuitive and emotional (exceptions not included in this discussion 😆). At a deeper level, it really depends on whether a person is more left-brained or right-brained, not just on gender.
Now, while the earlier comparison may seem to highlight the weaknesses of the left brain, let’s also consider the downside of an overactive right brain. If the right brain dominates too much, we might see someone acting impulsively, overly emotional, and lacking structure or logic—like having a beautifully designed architectural plan with great individual parts, but either too much here or too little there. Without coherent planning, how can one build a house that’s both beautiful and solid?
An ideal state, I believe, is something readers have probably concluded for themselves after reading the above 🐥
Finally, it’s important to note that if the left brain is too dominant during a hypnosis session, it will definitely interfere with the process. The right brain, on the other hand, is guided by the Higher Self and won’t easily go out of control. Besides judging and analyzing, the left brain also needs to learn to trust the inspiration that the right brain’s imagination can offer 🍎
